Because its as tough as a winter climbing pack, but as comfortable and breathable as a ventilated hiking pack. In addition to robust fabrics, a sturdy internal frame and a wraparound wicking back panel, you also get a top-loading main compartment with zippered lid and a robust modular lashing system to carry anything from bivvy gear to an ice axe. Thoughtful details like a tuck-away water bottle holster and zippered compartments on the shoulder straps and hip belt are paired with abrasion-resistant fabrics and a reinforced base that can handle rock, snow, and ice all year round.

The idea of NEMO was born one turbulent night on the side of Mount Washington while Cam Brensinger spent a sleepless five hours in a poorly designed bivy. That night he realised how much opportunity there was for thoughtful design as part of the equation of enjoying adventure. And, coming down off the mountain the next day, he resolved to tackle that challenge. Three days after graduation from Rhode Island School of Design, he founded NEMO Equipment.
